Today (18.1.2013) is -23 celsius degrees (-9,4 F) so isn't it more than fab to go back to last summer. This video takes me to a cottage where I was sitting on a sauna's stairs and listening to songs of the birds. One friend of mine - Gayle - was on my mind all day long. She loves the songs of the birds with hole her lovable heart so much. I bet that she would be more than happy to get to the cottage in one day with me.
These birds are unfamiliar to me. Of course I know the most common birds by looking at them but when talking about singing voice I'm very poor with that. One of the bird could be a nightingale but I'm not sure of that. If I can spend a little more time at the cottage even one summer I could start a new hobby; recognize birds by their songs.

As many know in Scandinavia we do have a polar night when the sun is most of the time in hiding. Luckily our summers are mostly full of the sun shines along nights as well :) Anyway, I saw suddenly a light on 9th of Jan which was so amazing thing after many grey days. In a south we certainly see the sun now and then and when it appears, it gives so much pleasure - at least for me. It means a new spring and a new summer is not so far anymore and days start to be longer and lighter again. Even that there are still snow on a ground and it will be snowing still more (hopefully not ) a sunshine gives a hope for warmer days.

I like the scenery of the winter although it means cold weather etc. The scenery could be so different e.g. after snowing or low temperature. All depends what kind weather conditions are when you are passing by. I was lucky in this day when the sun was up the sky a little while.
It looks pretty cold what it wasn't actually. I really can't remember is that a crescent or just my imagination.....
It looks that my semi trailer is much longer what is truly is.....a shadow was longer due to the angle of sunlight.
Only main roads are kept in good conditions by a transportation agency in the winters. The little roads like this one in a right are shocking for a semi trailer drivers. I have been stuck in the snow and also be a traffic stopper in the crossroads in many cases this winter. It means a lot of extra job which is not fun at all. A bit of gravel help a lot under tires so I am taking care of having some with me in the winters and one good shovel too.
There are only hope for hills on this route. A driver could fall asleep easily when driving this route daily. One should has a good imagination to keep him/herself awake over long distances.
This landscape is taking me back to my childhood. My dad used to love skiing (crosscountry and slalom) with all his heart. He has even won some prizes in his childhood. That is what he was doing and loving all his life until he lost his ability to walk anymore. Irony thing, isn't it. Anyway, he took my both brothers and me to ski (crosscountry) many times in my childhood. Today I understand him and his teaching methods but in those days I couldn't understand. I hated to ski so much. A wooden skis were just awful and my feet were freezing all the time. Those time the ski boots were pretty much colder than what they are today. Just one layer of a leather and that was that.

The sun was shining just so short time that even in these photos one can see how shadows are making new angles. I'm happy that I could share even a little of it with you my friends. Also I heard some birds song last Monday when a weather was a bit warmer than what it is today. It certainly gives new hope for upcoming spring :)
Oh Kati, the winter scenery looks cold, but so beautiful! The contrast between the blue skies and white snow is picture perfect. That's definitely not the sight one sees in Abilene, Texas during the winter! I would have wanted to pull off the road to soak in all the beauty.
VastaaPoistaI can't tell one bird song from another, but the video with the cabin and summer greenery seems like it came from a fairy tale. :-) It would be a wonderful place to relax and recharge the batteries of one's soul, I think.
Thanks for sharing your blog with me!

Thank you for your comment Karen :) A cottage is certainly a place where one can fully relax between hard work periods.
PoistaI wish that we can spend more time at the cottage next summer.
